Energy-saving tips can save you money, too
With the ever increasing costs of household power, there has never been a better time to look into energy saving tips. There are a number of simple steps you can take which will not only save you money, but will help the environment. Look after the pennies, as they say, and the pounds will look after themselves.
Insulation in the home makes a big difference to household bills, and can be done with a minimum of cost and effort. Laid out on the floor of the loft or in the roof space, it prevents heat from escaping through the top of the house. Usually made from fibreglass or mineral matting, it is easily installed, generally without the need for a DIY specialist.
Switch off to save the planet
In any modern home, there are a number of electrical appliances, each of which uses significant amounts of energy. An excellent way to save power is to avoid leaving units on standby. Televisions, music systems and home computers should always be switched off when not in use, and doing so will save you money, too.
Upgrading the household boiler will make a significant difference to energy consumption. An older boiler is far less efficient than a newer model, so replace it with an A-rated unit as soon as possible. Fitting a jacket to your hot water tank will also be a big improvement.
