Buying bin bags
I don’t know what it is about bin bags, but every time I run out and have to buy some more, I always end up buying the wrong thing. My kitchen bin is quite small, and last time I bought bin bags they were literally three times the size of the bin. I think they must have been industrial-sized – they were certainly far too large for my needs.
The time before that, I somehow managed to buy bags with built in handles, which were equally useless. All I want is standard-sized black bin bags, but somehow I keep missing them and getting the wrong thing instead.

Better Neighbours Thanks to Nuisibles!
We love the French neighbours in the upstairs flat, but there are some language barriers to cross! Take the expression nuisibles. We’d never heard of this before, but apparently this means pest control. Our poor neighbours have had terrible problems with bed bugs and cockroaches.
Once we were realised what they were talking about, we could help them. We spoke to the landlord on their behalf. Then, as they are out during the day and I work from home, I could let in the pest control guys when they came round. They did a great job and seemed to be very thorough – they were certainly in our neighbours’ flat long enough.
Over a cup of tea, they even had a quick chat to me about what you can do to prevent infestations of various pests. All pretty useful stuff. Thanks to them, we’re likely to stay pest-free. We’re also chatting to our Gallic neighbours a lot more now!
