Reliable supplies means cheap gas
We all want the cheapest gas and electricity possible – after all, we don’t want to pay more than necessary.
The difficulty is that looking for and extracting the natural gas is a dangerous, expensive process so there are limits to how cheap gas can be. What can be done to ensure reliable supplies of cheap gas for residential and commercial users.
One way would be to reduce our reliance on gas coming from politically unstable countries. Oil and gas resources available in the North Sea help to make this possible.
An alternative method of producing gas is by using the gases given off by rotting matter, known as biogas. This is not yet widely used but may grow in popularity in the future.
Finally, we should all use gas more efficiently: less waste means less cost.
